BIG BEAR HIGH SCHOOL Alumni News

Bob Jacobson sent the following message following the memorial services of Jim Bollingmo on Wednesday, August 27, at the Community Church in Big Bear.

I have read the foundations's newsletter over the past two months and I wanted to pass on to all of you Sharon Bollingmo's appreciation for the kind words regarding Jim contained therein. For those who were unable to attended yesterday's memorial ceremony, more than 800 people signed condolence books and we suppose that many more who entered the church hall after the ceremony started did not get that opportunity. It was a beautiful celebration of Jim's life which highlighted his numerous accomplishments and contributions to the Big Bear Community. Sharon has asked me to express her great appreciation for the tremendous outpouring of prayers, sympathy, food, donations, and other expressions of concern over the past four very difficult months. Likewise, the family will also appreciate your understanding for privacy and space as she, Erica, Erin & Shaun begin to put their lives back together without Jim. Thank you.
Bob Jacobson, Class of 1961.

Editor's note: It was a packed house of worship at the Community Church on Wednesday, August 27 and it appeared to me that the community stopped for a couple of hours to honor one of our greatest alumni. Jim will be sorely missed at the SGM BBHS Foundation meetings. He was always quiet but when he spoke everyone listened. Blessings upon Sharon and the family. It was like an old reunion with all the Jacobsen and Bollingmo graduates of BBHS and their parents and family. Sharon had asked that all memorial gifts be given to the SGM BBHS Foundation. The total is currently over $2000 and more gifts are arriving every day at the District Office. This also means that graduate Steve Mihalyo, class of 1961, will match the memorial fund. Way to go Jim!!!!!

I was attending an event in Big Bear this week and bumped into Ron "Ron Around Town" Seymore who has an interesting e mail news about events, news and weather in the Valley. Ron stated that he receives about 10,000 hits a week on the web site. To learn more about the site go to http://roundtownwithron.tripod.com

Those of you planning a reunion should contact Bonnie Tregaskis, Events Coordinator. Bonnie can assist you with information about places to stay or places to house your reunion. Bonnie can be reached at BBVEvents@CharterInternet.com or by calling 909-866-2638. Her fax number is 909-866-5412.

Optional 7 day cruise to the Caribbean
We are inviting all alumni who attended BBHS while the class of 74 was there to join us at the reunion dinner and any or all of the events following. I will be updating all of you as more information becomes available. Your help is requested in helping us contact everyone who graduated from BBHS during the years of 1971 through 1977. It is a big job tracking down over 800 alumni, but with your help, we can do it. Please respond to this e-mail message even if you are not interested in attending so we can verify if we have a correct e-mail address for you and can confirm your interest in attending or not. Send me all contact info you can find and spread the word that the Class of '74 is planning the best BBHS reunion ever for the summer of 2004. Also send your preference of the two dates shown above, include any suggestions you might have and indicate if you are interested in the cruise. If we get enough people involved the economies of scale will give us more for our money. We are aiming for about $25 per person and $45 per couple for the dinner on Friday night.

I am looking forward to the Kyle Hagmann Memorial Golf Tournament this Sunday at Goldmine Golf course. It will be a reunion of a lot of old hackers and for a good cause.

Send me any alumni news to awaner@earthlink.net. Al Waner
