BIG BEAR HIGH SCHOOL Alumni News
NOVEMBER 7, 2004
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??? THREE FEET OF SNOW the last week
of October. The ski slopes opened on Saturday, October 30, just in
time for Halloween!!!! My grand kids in Big Bear called me and they
skied all day Saturday, October 30, because so few people took
advantage of the early opening !!!! It should be a good winter for
Big Bear. The Lake is also up a foot from its lowest level in the
fall of 17 feet below lake level. Pray for more snow and more rain. We need all the moisture we can get.
Did you see the Grizzly issue of Oct. 13, 2004? Can Jeff
Woodruff, class of 1974, be retiring from the local Fire
Department after more than 30 years? Jeff retired from the position
of Captain. To replace Jeff, the Fire District named John
Arden. John graduated in 1978 and moved down the hill but
returned to Big Bear in 1990 and hired on with the Fire department.
He has steadily moved up the ranks to Captain. CONGRATULATIONS TO
JEFF AND TO JOHN.
Ed Stalcup and family were visiting in the New England
States in October and Ed had physical problems and spent a couple of
weeks in the hospital. He is home now but tells quite story about
having double pneumonia and staff infection and a small heart attack
in a small town hospital 3000 miles from home and having the hospital
staff take such special care of him. They know now what we have
all known all along. Ed is too ornery to die!!! He still has a lot of
follow up doctor care in the future, so I know he would love to hear
from you. His Big Bear address is Ed Stalcup, P.O. Box 1392, Big
Bear Lake, Calif., 92315. Stalcupīs phone number is 909-866-2035.
Just talked to Kent Stalcup on the phone and Kent said under the
circumstances, "My dad is doing O.K." Kent and Linda (Richutti) love
having their daughter in "Grandma Stalcupīs" Co-Op nursery school. Ed
and Charlene were one of the founding parents of the Co-Op Nursery
some 40 years ago. Anyone an alumnus of the Co-Op Nursery school
which was started at the Methodist Church (Now Spencer Reality) by a
group of parents in the early 60īs? I would love to hear from you.
The Big Bear Cross Country teams are putting Big Bear on the
map. Chad Hall, a sophomore, placed first in
C.I.F. The girls team placed third over all. Wow!!! Way to go!!!
